Howe insists Wilson will soon get national team callup

first_imgBournemouth manager Eddie Howe insists it’s only a matter of time before Callum Wilson gets a call-up to the England national team as a result of his recent performances.Wilson is currently England’s most prolific striker in the Premier league level on goals with England national team captain Harry Kane, with both players on five goals each. The former Kettering Town product had an unlucky start to life in the league, first rupturing his ACL after scoring just five goals into his debut Premier League season. But he returned back to training ahead of schedule, however, the shocks, springs and suspension of his body had yet to truly recover. His movements veered subtly to the left to accommodate his wounded knee, his once impressive acceleration was noticeably slower, as he struggled for pace.Brad Smith is loving his time at MLS Manuel R. Medina – August 27, 2019 Smith has been loaned from AFC Bournemouth to Seattle Sounders for a whole season, and the Australian footballer is enjoying his time there.Wilson was dropped, as Bournemouth signed strikers, Benik Afobe and Lewis Grabban, and if the former England U-21 international hadn’t signed to the club on a four-year contract his career with the South coast club may well have come to a premature end.The 26-year-old suffered the same ACL injury to his other knee as he worked his way back into the team, but all those memories seem a far cry away, as he has more goals to his name than Romelu Lukaku, Mo Salah and Alexander Lacazette in the league this season.“He’s certainly going to be in Gareth’s mind, I’ve got no doubt about that,” Howe said, according to The Independent.“Callum has just got to keep doing what he’s doing and if he continues to score and do well then I think it will only be a matter of time so the responsibility really is with Callum just to take care of his form for us.”last_img
